Final grades will be assigned based
on the percentages and points shown below. There are 700 points in play for this
course which means the grade breakdown is as follows. If I find out about any
extra credit opportunities I will pass them along. In my experience students
will often work very, very hard for extra credit. A better strategy would be to
put just as much effort into earning regular credit as you would extra credit.
Studying more and earning a score 10 points higher on the test will help your
grade more than any single extra credit opportunity I might have to offer.
I also do not do any rounding in
calculating final grades. In fact, I hide the total point column so I won’t
have any idea how close you are to a particular letter grade. This means that
if you want an “A” in this class you will need to earn at least 651 points. If
you come up at 650 points that is an A- and I will not have any extra credit
opportunities available after the class ends. Extra credit is ex ante NOT ex post.

Below is a brief description
of the assignments associated with this module.
In the lecture content for
Chapter 1, I pose a question to the class. This question forms the basis of
this assignment. Answering that Porter 5 Forces question is the airline
reflection paper, and is worth 25 points.
This paper requires you to
analyze a potential startup company using Porter’s 5 Forces and his Generic
Strategies. You will be given an overarching entrepreneurial scenario and will
analyze the industry space and make recommendations as to how the business
owners should proceed. An “A” paper on this assignment will probably be 2-3
pages long. This paper is worth 50 points.
For this assignment you will select an organization and
investigate that organization’s sustainability efforts. This entails finding
out how the selected organization defines sustainability and then evaluating
that organization with regards to that definition. You will submit a written
report detailing the organization and their sustainability efforts. Part of
your report will be a critique of their efforts with recommendations on how the
organization can improve their efforts. This assignment is worth 100 points.
This quiz covers all material covered in this module. It will
be approximately 30 multiple choice questions and is
worth 50 points.
Below is a brief description
of the assignments associated with this module.
This is a three-part assignment where you develop a project
plan for an organization. Part one entails entering tasks and durations. Part
two requires you to change the project for length, and part three entails
changing the project for costs. This assignment is worth 100 points.
You will use a piece of software called Dashboard Designer to build a simple executive decision making dashboard. This assignment is worth 50 points.
To gain additional practice
with MS Project and to demonstrate the usefulness of developing your project
management skills, you will build a Gantt chart detailing the rest of your
academic career here at Le Moyne. This assignment is worth 25 points.
Below is a brief description
of the assignments associated with this module.
This project further exposes you to Microsoft Access, but
also adds elements of Microsoft Excel into it as well. You will also be
required to use a new piece of software called UMLet
and your good friend Word as well. Again DO
NOT PROCRASTINATE! I’ve seen too many students wait too long on this
project a quick way to earn a failing grade on this is to wait until the last
days before it is due. More details will be given when the project is assigned.
This project is divided into 3 parts and across all 3 parts is worth 175
points.
This quiz covers all material covered in this module. It will
be approximately 30 multiple choice questions and is
worth 50 points.
