Cool Mathematical Links

  • 3 Blue 1 Brown -- Grant Sanderson makes beautiful and elegant videos that search for the “little nugget of explanation that really clarifies why something is true”. His mathematical visualizations are excellent at giving the audience a satisfying (often geometric) sense of understanding. He has popular series on Calculus, Linear Algebra, and even Neural Networks, in addition to numerous standalone videos on fascinating topics.
  • Euclid: The Game -- This fantastic introduction to constructive Euclidean geometry was created Kasper Peulen using GeoGebra. The game has an excellent progression through various straight-edge and compass constructions of geometric objects. Learning common techniques in early levels allows you to ‘add them to your toolbelt’ for later ones. The game currently sportsa short tutorial and 25 fun and engaging levels.
  • Explained Visually -- This is an experimental website that attempts to make difficult ideas intuitive using visualizations.
  • xkcd: What-If Blog -- Randall Munroe gives what he accurately describes as “serious scientific answers to absurd hypothetical questions”. Whether he's discussing relativistic baseballs, draining the oceans from a single hole (and pouring all the water out on Mars), putting a billion-story building into perspective, or trying to describe what a rainbow might look like on the planet of Tatooine, his answers are delightfully entertaining examples of estimation, modeling, and careful problem solving.
