My family...

If you are reading this, I am going to assume you want to know a little bit more about me as a person. If you want to know more about my teaching or research, feel free to hit up those pages instead.

In the picture to the right, I am the one in the lower right. The big person lying next to me is my wife, Sara. She has the most delightful southern accent you'll ever want to hear. Those little folks climbing on our backs are Drew (the one lying on Sara) and Canyon (the one howling on my back). The two of them are into dinosaurs, robots, monsters and any combination thereof.

My Professional & Academic Background...

I was a database administrator in the pharmaceutical industry before I decided to return to school for doctoral work. I received a B.S. in Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University. I followed that with a M.S. in Accounting from Middle Tennessee State University as well. My Ph.D. is in Management/Information Systems from Clemson University. My research typically resides at the intersection of people, technology, and business though if something strikes my intellectual fancy I'll pursue it regardless of which academic domain technically lays claim to the idea.

My Personal Interests...

If you are still reading, here's what I do when I leave the office behind. When the weather is warm, I've typically gotten to the office by bike. So I'm into riding (both road and mountain bikes). One might think that central New York might not be the best place for riding, but once I accepted the fact that I'm not going to get much saddle time in between November and April this is a fine area to ride. The terrain is just hilly enough to remind me that I'm not living in the Great Plains region nor is it so vertically challenged that I mistake the area for the Sierras.

I do love the snow (I wish this area received more than what we get) and I have communted to work via snowshoe in the past--a fact that some of my colleagues remind me about from time to time. I snowboard not nearly often enough, and would like to give cross country skiing a try. My attitude is if it is going to be cold, it might as well snow. Cold without snow is a waste. I know that sentiment is kind of unconventional, but I grew up in Tennessee. I cannot count the number of times I laid in bed on a Sunday night praying for snow to close school on Monday because I had not done my homework. Now I live somewhere that gets plenty of snow, and I'd like to see more.

I also enjoy running trails, hiking, and paddling. I used to enjoy whitewater paddling, but I took a few too many long, punishing trips through rocky low oxygen environments without the comfort of my boat. Now I boat calmer waters. Good thing since this area is full of lakes. The terrain that makes this area so great for biking also means that running and hiking are enjoyable instead of monotonous or lung busting. I particularly enjoy running at Green Lakes early in the morning.

Lastly, when I come back inside, I need to eat. Good thing I enjoy cooking. While theoretically I can make good, healthy dishes, I generally eschew those for the more fun things. I cover all the basic food groups--pizzas , cupcakes, cookies , biscuits , and pies . Good thing Sara also enjoys cooking because if I had to do all my own cooking, folks would call me Jabba.
