New Document pane
Clicking 'Blank document' will display a blank document window. You may start entering your text into this document window.
The 'XML document' and 'Web page' options allow you to create a document suitable for dispaly in a web browser. This is not discussed in this class.
Clicking 'From existing document...' will display the 'New from Existing Document' dialog box, allowing you to select an existing Word document. The selected Word document is copied and displayed in a document window, allowing you to modify the copy without affecting the original document.
Clicking 'Templates on Office Online' displays template categories as found on a Microsoft Office Online web site. When a web browser is not already started, this will start a web browser to display the web site.
Clicking 'On my computer...' displays the Templates dialog box, which allows you to select a Word template installed on the computer you are currently using.
Click on the various tabs to see the different kinds of templates provided. Click on a specific template to display a preview of the template.
Clicking 'On my web sites...' should not be used, as it requires a Microsoft Passport account.
