completed work for a master's degree in biostatistics. The program
consists of 10 to 12 weeks of working at our corporate headquarters. The
interns will work closely with a senior-level statistician on topics
related to the design and analysis of clinical trials and/or nonclinical
research. Amgen research and development uses science and innovation to
dramatically improve people's lives in various therapeutic areas including

Each intern selects a research project from any of the areas of active research interest of the preceptor, and works with this preceptor towards turning the project into a paper that can be published (with the intern as a co-author). In the past, interns have worked on projects dealing with ordered categorical data, methodologies for prostate cancer screening trials, improved methods of randomization, and methods to control selection bias in randomized trials. Other research interests include endpoint selection (including the validation of surrogate endpoints) and nonparametric covariate adjustment. In some cases the intern may be able to suggest a suitable research project to work on. The hours are flexible to allow the intern to also work at a paying job, and interns enjoy the benefits of access to the world-class NIH Library, plus interns are free to attend the lectures presented by cutting edge researchers on and around the NIH Campus. Pennsylvania RAND's Graduate Student Summer Associate Program introduces outstanding graduate students to RAND, an institution that conducts research on a wide range of national security problems and domestic and international social policy issues. Summer associates typically work at RAND for a 12-week period. Students receive a stipend and are given the opportunity to conduct independent research that can be completed during the three months they are at RAND. Each associate is assigned to a research project and is mentored by a senior research staff member, usually one with the same academic background as the associate. The New York TimesNew York City Graphics/maps interns work with staff graphics editors and cartographers to develop the skills to present the news visually through charts, diagrams and maps. The goals of the internship are to develop fresh, to-the-point informational graphics and to identify future graphics specialists and cartographers for The Times. U.S. Census BureauSuitland, Maryland Multiple summer and cooperative education positions open for candidates interested in producing our nation's official economic and demographic statistics. Interns/co-ops may work on a variety of applications, including survey design and analysis, evaluation of nonsampling errors occurring from nonresponse, and coverage and measurement error and analysis and reduction.
