Course Description:
This course is a continuation of MATH 111 and MTH110. Further methods of statistics and their use in life will be covered. Topics include Inference for one and two population means, Inference for two proportions and two variances, Inference for simple and multiple regression, Categorical data analysis, Analysis of variance. SPSS statistical program will be used throughout this course.

Participation:
Lecture format will be used in this course. You are welcome to ask questions at any time. You are responsible for all material discussed in class while you are absent. An absence can only be excused when :
1. The absence is for participation in an official College event or for an event that has my prior approval.
2. The absence is for medical reasons or for an emergency that I am informed before missing class.
If you cannot reach me directly about an absence, you can leave a voice mail message at 4373 or an email message at hsu@lemoyne.edu.

Quizzes:
There will be three open-book and open-note quizzes, of length approximately 30 minutes. The quizzes will primarily consist of problems from the homework. No makeup quizzes for whatever reason, will be allowed. However the worst quiz score of each student will not be counted so that an excused absence will not be penalized.

Examinations:
The tests are open book and open notes. No makeup tests for whatever reason, will be allowed.

Readings:
The reading assignment is the topic of the next class. Try to keep ahead of me so that you can ask questions on the text material which confuses you.

Homework:
You cannot learn mathematics just by watching me or others during class. Mathematics is a lot like playing an instrument or sport. Becoming proficient requires practice. The homework is your opportunity to practice. Try to maintain a constant level of effort. Do some homework each day. At each class homework will be assigned and designated to hand in by the end of the next class period. I will grade one of the homework problems and put the solutions in the class folder after the due date. Note that exercises are consecutively numbered in each chapter. Answers for odd- numbered problems are given in the back of the text. You are encouraged to attempt all of them. The only way to learn this material is to do problems.
