Notes

• Tempo is quite a bit slower than in the "Trout Quintet." Dancers make one step per quarter note. Note that the sequence is 32 bars of 4/4, so it has twice as many beats as 32 bars of 2/4.
• The sequence in the A music is not quite the same as in Victor Skowronski's "Rafe's Waltz," but I had that dance in mind as a model for ringing the changes on a short set of figures.
• At the end of A2, the Mad Robin figure is the contra dance figure inspired by the English country dance "Mad Robin." I think of the figure as neighbors walk a back-to-back while keeping eyes on partner. It is like the Mad Robin chase, but with both couples moving at once.
• The Mad Robin figure flows directly into the full poussette: gent one and lady two are already moving forward.
