I think of the cast and follow figures as a "come hither" by the person casting and a chase by the person following; this partner interaction is then interrupted by the corner turns.
A2: The path of the cast and follow figure is the same as a single-file circle left halfway, but the focus of the dancers' attention is different (on partner as described above).
B1 & B2: Contra dancers will recognize these set and turn figures as "Balance the ring and Petronella turn."
B2: Ones turn only halfway, twos turn all the way.
