Peggy Bates and Margaret Fain have conducted a teaching effectiveness seminar for faculty at Coastal Carolina University, called Cheating 101: Paper mills and you. Begins with a letter from Father O'Donovan, President, explaining the importance of academic integrity. Site is designed for the Honor Council, but provides standards, explanations, the Honor Code and pledge all students are required to sign, FAQ, tutorial, and links to online paper sites. Links to useful web pages, including citation styles, and a list of useful detection methods. Dalhousie University plagiarism web site: Online tutorial, what it is, how to avoid it, and how to detect it. Includes citation formats and some guidance in designing assignments. University of Wisconsin at Platteville, a web site designed by Kay T. Young for a faculty workshop. University of Maryland University College Center for Intellectual Property has a small list of college and university web sites with plagiarism policies. They also have a nicely organized listing of web sites grouped by area of emphasis, such as Developing Assignments, Incidence and Prevalence, and Theory and Discussion. Turnitin.com has a new research resources section which provides assistance to both educators and students, and handouts to be used with students. |
