Conference Update June 14
14/06/10 21:22
Just to give you an update on where things stand with the Cheiron conference coming in just 10 days. Having received three new registrants today (6/14), there are 63 people who are registered to attend so far. The majority of registrants are planning to stay in campus housing. Hence, as of this evening, there are only 4 more single A/C rooms, but 12 more single non A/C rooms still available for lodging. I am meeting with the Le Moyne administrative and office teams at 10 am tomorrow to put final touches on arrangements for the conference. Those who are coming will find that right behind the two buildings we are using for presentations (Grewen & Reilly Halls), Le Moyne College has begun its largest set of building projects in almost 50 years. We are completing a new soccer/lacrosse field, installing a new parking and road system, breaking ground on a $20 million addition to the Coyne Science Building and moving our bookstore to a new location on the campus southwest corner in a new building. None of this should directly interfere with what takes place at our gathering (certainly the construction crews won’t be here on that Saturday and Sunday). But, I will be notifying all attendees by the end of the week how/where they need to go on the campus in order to sign in upon arrival.
The weather in Central New York has been utterly gorgeous the last week or so. Temperatures have been in the 70s F (ca. 22-25º C) with pleasant breezes. The grounds look lovely and we have to hope that we enjoy similar conditions at the end of next week. As ever, if you have any questions or concerns, please email me at hevern [at] LeMoyne.edu
