NPELRA Foundation Opens First Round of Scholarship Awards The NPELRA Foundation has announced that it will award its first scholarships this year. The Foundation, established three years ago, has been collecting contributions to provide scholarships to deserving graduate students studying labor and employee relations. The Foundation will award from two to four $2,000 scholarships. Applicants with an interest in public sector labor relations should send a letter of application accompanied by grade transcripts and at least two faculty recommendations to: Roger Dahl, The NPELRA Foundation, 1620 Eye Street, N.W., 3rd Floor, Washington, D.C., 20006. The letter of application should address experiences or other appropriate evidence of an interest in public sector human resource management and labor relations. The quality of the letter will be one factor in the decision-making process. Other factors will include grades, interest in the public sector as a career and faculty recommendations. Background The NPELRA Foundation is a nonprofit subsidiary and the educational arm of the National Public Employer Labor Relations Association (NPELRA). The Foundation provides scholarships to deserving graduate students studying labor and employee relations or a closely related field. The Foundation seeks to provide worthy graduate students interested in a career in public sector labor and employee relations with financial assistance. Established without an endowment, the Foundation relies on the contributions of NPELRA's members for its funding. Once sufficient funds are available, universities and colleges with schools offering degrees in human resource management and/or labor and employee relations will be informed of the availability of the Foundation's Anthony C. "Tony" Russo Scholarships. Finalists will be selected based on a set of criteria as specified above. Scholarship recipients are selected on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis. Faculty members from a select number of these schools will be asked to serve on our selection committee. http://www.collegescholarships.com
